Özet:

This study focuses on the life and historical significance of ʿUthmān b. Abī al-ʿĀṣ d. 50-51670-71, a prominent member of the Banū Thaqīf tribe, which held a strategic position in the city of Ṭāʾif during the Prophet Muḥammads prophethood. ʿUthmān b. Abī al-ʿĀṣ was the first governor of the Ṭāʾifites who accepted Islam by sending a delegation to the Prophet Muhammad in Ramaḍān of the 9th year of the Hijrah, following the conquest of Mecca, which can be considered a late period. Appointed by the Prophet Muḥammad himself, he continued to serve as governor during the caliphate of Abū Bakr and the first two years of the ʿUmars caliphate. During this time, he rendered important services, such as preventing the apostasy irtidād of the Thaqīf tribe and combating apostate Ridda tribes. He was then appointed governor of Bahrain by Caliph ʿUmar and continued as governor for the first six years of ʿUthmāns reign. During this period, he carried out important activities for the conquest and Islamization of the Fārs region, now within the borders of Iran. ʿUthmān b. Abī al-ʿĀṣ, who served as the governor of Ṭāʾif and Bahrain for nearly two decades, made significant contributions to the formation of Islamic civilization. Despite his importance, no independent study has been dedicated to him until now. This article is the first independent study focused on him.
