Özet:

Pre-Islamic poetry achieved a distinguished and prestigious status in Arabic literature. The greatest evidence of this is the imitation by poets in subsequent eras of its language, imagery, and expressions. This esteemed status is attributed to the beauty and distinctiveness of its language, its high eloquence, the authentic artistic images that vividly depict the emotions and feelings of the poet, its representation of nature- and most importantly- its simplicity and lack of lexiphanicism. However, we cannot judge all pre-Islamic poets with a single characteristic due to their differences in artistic features and qualities. Therefore, we needed to select one of them, and in this study, we have chosen to focus on the poetry of Amr b. Kulsûm due to his significance in the cultural, political, and social realms of his time.In this study, I have examined the concept of cultural patterns in the poetry of Amr b. Kulsûm, in line with modern research in cultural criticism, which attempts to move beyond the confines of literary criticism to cultural criticism. This shift advocates for a new and innovative perspective in analyzing literary texts, encompassing beliefs, intellectual structures, traditions, and artistic norms. Notably, some Arab thinkers cultural criticism has crystallized latent patterns based on their ability to analyze the aesthetic values of literary texts. Herein lies the importance of cultural patterns and cultural criticism.
