Özet:

Al- Mutanabī is regarded as one of the most significant figures in classical Arabic literature. However, his legacy has been marred by controversy. While some admired his poetic genius and impressive style, others were jealous and criticized his poetry. One of these critics was Abū ʿAlī al-Hātimī. Al-Hātimī argued that al-Muṭanabī plagiarized his poems and wrote some works to support this claim. One of these works is a book titled al-Risālat al-mūdīha fī zikri serikāti Abū al-Ṭayyib al-Muṭanabī wa sākıtı shiʿrih. In this book, al-Khātimī draws attention to the similarities between some aphorisms attributed to Aristotle and al-Mutanabbīs poems by presenting examples from the latters poems and implying that al-Mutanabbī was influenced by Aristotle. This study aims to analyze al-Hātimīs examples in the aforementioned work through comparative analysis. The ten selected examples from al-Mutanabs poems and Aristotles aphorisms were subjected to a detailed analysis. This analysis revealed that the aphorisms and poems convey similar or identical messages but differ in their treatment of the subject, style of expression, and presentation. It can therefore be assumed that al-Mutanabī, inspired by Aristotle or other philosophers, added a philosophical depth to his poems. In doing so, he took only the meanings of the philosophical ideas he used and presented them in a highly aesthetic and original way. Given the poets literary value and influence, the space allocated to him in Turkish academic studies is quite limited. This study aims to make an original contribution to the literature by addressing a topic that has not been studied before.
