Özet:

Movies with the content of the Turkish War of Independence are frequently seen on television during national holidays, in documentaries of the War of Independence, and on different channels on the internet. It is a well-known fact that during the period of the National Struggle and the Proclamation of the Republic 1919-1923, non-fiction documentactualmise-en-scene films about the War of Independence were shot by various institutions and organizations. However, detailed scientific studies have not been carried out on them, and even a complete inventory of these films has not been made yet. What we know about these films is still very limited today. Moreover, in the literature of cinema history that began in the 1940s in Türkiye, this issue also presents a very complex appearance. This very limited literature, despite its brevity, is dominated by uncertainties, inconsistencies and errors. One of the most well-known films in question is named Zafer Yollarında On the Roads of Victory, and the focus of the article is this film. The article has two main purposes, one on cinema history and the other on cinema historiography: First, to illuminate the film Zafer Yollarında, about which almost nothing new has been said for nearly eighty years, in the light of primary sources and to reconstruct the narrative about it by purifying it from the mistakes it contains. Secondly, to analyze the anatomy of the construction process of a specific narrative in the history of cinema by tracing the historiography of Zafer Yollarında from the 1940s to the present. This micro survey and analysis will also serve as a model in terms of giving a general macro view of the historiography of OttomanTurkish early period cinema.
