Özet:

Every city in the world has a unique founding and development story. Batman has witnessed a miraculous transformation in this regard under unique conditions. In fact, the real reason underlying the rapid growth of a city in the Southeastern Anatolia Region in such a short period of time is hidden in the founding levels of the Republic. Because the implementation of the principle of self-sufficiency in energy, as in agriculture and animal husbandry, created the city of Batman. Batman was founded on the blessings gushing from Raman mountain. While the city was being built, national opportunities were put into use on the one hand, and foreign experts were benefited from by communicating with the outside world, on the other hand. In the development of Turkeys most important oil production center, the provision of new transportation opportunities and the mobility in the demographic structure played an extremely important role while the country was covered with iron nets. The efforts to integrate state-controlled liberalism and the phenomenon of universal industry made Batman a city rather than a village. In this study, Batmans modernization journey from the 1940s to the 21st century was examined step by step. Using archive resources, periodicals and original works, the progress of a city rising in the steppe was critiqued from a socioeconomic perspective.
