Özet:

Art galleries, which are intermediary spaces for the meeting of works of art with the society, emerged as places of representation of culture and art in the formation of modern life in the capital Ankara after the declaration of the Republic. These new spaces, introduced to the society in the modernization process, enabled works of art to be exhibited and to be visible in the art market. In art galleries, which play a connecting role between society and art, the space organizations and the elements that make up the space have changed and developed in the light of social processes. This change has made exhibition spaces not only places that bring together artists and works of art and the public, but also places of socialization and interaction for the society. This study deals with the representation of private gallery spaces in social life and their interactive spatial transformations, which developed rapidly in the capital after the 1980s. In this regard, in selecting the art galleries examined as samples in the study; The fact that they are active today, that they contain additional functions during the period in which they are discussed, and that they include user interactive spaces have been decisive. In the study, data obtained from oral interviews with participants, in addition to literature reviews, were used to describe social transformation and spatial changes and to convey the transformations of art galleries in the process.
