Özet:

This study discusses the basic factors that played a role in the active positioning of individuals who participated in the socialist left movement between 1960 and 1980 in the organized struggle and the relationship of these factors with the changing approaches to left values today. At this point, the findings of the study were analyzed by taking Ahmet Taner Kışlalıs Student Uprisings and Attila İlhans Hangi Sol as references. The research questions aimed to learn about the individuals first experiences with the left movement, the reasons for their participation and the impact of taking part in the organized struggle on daily life. For this purpose, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 30 participants selected by snowball sampling method using the qualitative research type. Within the scope of the study, three separate categories were created based on the individuals first experiences regarding their participation in the socialist movement. The obtained data allowed the classification of individuals participation in the socialist movement as the effect of the family, the effect of the social environment and the effect of educationschool especially high school and university. The data obtained within the scope of in-depth bilateral interviews showed that nine out of 30 interviewees joined leftist politics due to the influence of their families, 12 due to the influence of schooleducation, and the remaining nine due to the influence of their social environment. The study aimed to determine how and under what conditions individuals who joined the socialist movement experienced socialist values and to what extent these experiences were shaped in the future. Individuals were asked to recall all kinds of experiences related to their own lives and political preferences and to tell special events, and the study was shaped by classifying these stories relationally. The stories told provided information about the personal, social and historical context, as well as allowing access to information about how the participants positioned their identities within socialist values from the past to the present.
