Özet:

In the classical tafsir tradition, the role of hadiths in understanding the Quran has been an important area of debate throughout history. Hadiths have assumed various functions, such as explaining concise statements in detail restircting absolute rulings, allocating general statements, and placing the events in the Quran in their historical context. This article aims to analyze the functions of hadiths in tafsir and their contribution to the construction of meaning. In the research, the use of hadiths in tafsir is analyzed by using document analysis method. In addition, the interpretive layers of hadiths in exegesis are analyzed. In this context, it is evaluated how hadiths shape Quranic verses at literal, metaphorical and mystical levels. Critical perspectives on the use of hadith in exegesis have also been discussed. Problems such as the detachment of hadiths from their context, the inclusion of weak and fabricated narrations in exegesis, and their different interpretations according to sects and schools of thought are examined in the light of classical and modern perspectives. The binding nature of the Sunnah and the epistemological status of hadiths in explaining the Quran will be discussed, and the role of hadiths in the context of narration and direct exegesis will be re-evaluated. As a result, the functional value of hadiths in the classical tafsir tradition will be revealed and its contribution to the layers of interpretation of the science of tafsir will be discussed in this context. The study aims to provide an academic framework for reevaluating the role of hadiths in Quranic exegesis in terms of both traditional exegetical methodology and modern theories of interpretation.
