Özet:

The aim of this study is to analyze the problems faced by non-Muslim minorities in 1950s Turkey in the context of othernessothering in the Kulüp series in accordance with the socio-cultural and political structure of the period. In this context, by analyzing the dialogues in the series through words, the stereotypes used against non-Muslim minorities at that time were deciphered, and the meanings of the periodical view of non-Muslim minorities were examined with an objective perspective. How the cultural values of the minority group Sephardic Jews living in Istanbul, which is not mentioned much in the media, are reflected in the series is valuable for the revelation of a forgotten culture and reveals the importance of the study. 18 discourses marginalizing non-Muslims were found in the series broadcasted in 10 episodes. The discourses were analyzed with the discourse analysis method developed by Norman Fairclough. The reason why Faircloughs method of analysis is preferred is that in the art of film or TV series, character dialogues take up as much space as images. In this way, the method can provide important data in terms of helping to understand the linguistic structure of the dialogues and revealing how the ideological ideas established in the series are grounded. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that non-Muslim and Turkish citizens were subjected to othering practices in 1950s Turkey in the Kulüp series.
