Özet:

Peyami Safa stands as a towering figure in Turkish literature whose works weave a tapestry of themes that not only reflect the turbulent socio-political landscape of his time, but also resonate with universal human experiences. This research paper aims to conduct an analytical examination of the criticism embedded in Safas literary corpus, focusing on the dominant themes that permeate her narratives. At the centre of this study is the exploration of identity and existentialism, which Safa artfully articulates through complex characters and intriguing plots, revealing the internal struggles of individuals caught between personal aspirations and societal expectations. Furthermore, this paper will explore the theme of modernisation and tradition, a pervasive dichotomy that is vividly portrayed in Safas works and serves as a lens through which the implications for Turkish society can be critically evaluated. By contextualising Safas literature within the socio-political framework of his time, this analysis aims to illuminate how his narratives not only critique the evolving cultural landscape, but also engage with broader existential questions that remain relevant today.
