Özet:

Students who decide to study abroad for their university education may have to deal with many different problems related to being away from their home country. While struggling with these problems, they may apply for professional support in various fields. When the professional support received is in the field of mental health, it is called psychological assistance. Within the scope of this study, it was aimed to determine the views of international students who continue their education at Karabük University on receiving psychological help and to evaluate their views on receiving psychological help in their home countries and in Turkey. The study was conducted with a total of 10 participants, 5 female and 5 male international students. The data of the in-depth interviews with the participants were analyzed through content analysis. The findings were categorized under 4 main themes. These themes were further elaborated with sub-themes. The fact that the participants overcame the language barrier in Turkey enabled them to cope with their problems more easily. None of the participants stated that they had ever received psychological help. The attitudes of the students participating in the research also differ. When international students compared Turkey with their home countries in terms of receiving psychological help, it was concluded that there were both similarities and differences between the countries. It is thought that the study is important in terms of including the views of individuals from different nationalities on receiving psychological help and comparing Turkey with their own countries in this field.
