Özet:

The symbolic literature in poetry began in the West, then moved to other parts of the earth. Scholars used symbolism throughout history to express their thoughts and ideas. This type of literature expresses a high level of rhetoric, inspiration and depth in meaning, so it was restricted to a specific group of people, who are the elite who understand what the symbolic writer says. In countries that oppress their people, writers used to express their ideas and call for revolution in a symbolic way that protects them from the rulers anger and the threat of spending the rest of their lives in prison. Among these writers was Tamim Al-Barghouti, a poet, who always surprised his listeners with his symbolic poems. For reasons such as having both Egyptian and Palestinian cultures and being a contemporary Arab writer; in this study we discussed and analyzed one aspect of his symbolic poetry and shed light on one aspect of the symbols role in poetry. Thus, we examined the poetry product of an author who has experienced oppression and tyranny in more than one Arab country. In the end, we conclude that social life has clearly changed because of the rapid spread of capitalism in Europe in the second half of the nineteenth century when literary life transformed, at that time, into new literary movements that were not familiar before. This paved the way for the emergence of different literary schools due to the status quo. Among those schools is the Symbolic school that was a response to the idea of art is for the sake of art. Perhaps this school was created in the West, but the existing situation laid the foundation for the growth of this literature in the Arab world more than anywhere else Keywords: Arabic Literature, Modern Poetry, Symbolism, Tamim Bergusi, Political Literature.
