Özet:

Although the main reason for the start of the Crusades was apparently religious, the fact that Islam became a universal religion against Christianity from the very beginning was an important factor. In order to understand this process, which has an important place in the history of the world, the study of city histories has an important place. In order to look at macro history from micro history, it is possible to access data that will shed light on the whole world history, especially based on a region. From this point of view, in this study, the role of the knights will be examined during the Crusades, which have important effects from history to the present, especially during the establishment of the Urfa Crusader county. In this framework, first of all, a general evaluation will be made about what the concept of knight is and how to become a knight. Later, the knights who took part in the Urfa Crusader county during the First Crusade, which has a vital importance in Turkish history, especially in the process of Turkification of Anatolia, will be discussed. In the study, rather than the other Frankish easels in the region, the place of I. Baudouin and Joscelin, who have made a name for themselves in the world history with their actions, in the Crusader army, their struggles against the Turks and their relations with the local people will be emphasized. The attitudes of the knights especially toward the Christian people in the region, their struggles among themselves, and their relations with other counties will also be discussed within the scope of this study. In this study, which examines the activities of the Frankish knights during the Crusader county of Urfa, the definition of knighthood, its characteristics, education, and job description will be clarified.
