Özet:

Societies have their own unique cultural codes, and while these codes differentiate societies from one another, they also create cultural differences between groups within the same society. This is explained by cultural diversity and societies that include culturally diverse groups have a heterogeneous structure. Cultural theorists have conducted various studies on the causes of cultural differences. According to Edward Hall and Geert Hofstede, every society adheres to its cultural correlates and this makes them culturally differentiated. This situation can categorize societies as collectivist or individualist, as well as masculine and feminine. Therefore, while this situation causes societies cultural values and norms to diverge, it also differentiates their communication styles. In this study, the TV series Kızılcık Şerbeti, which is an important data source in terms of the representation of cultural differences, was analyzed based on Geert Hofstedes cultural dimensions theory. The reason for analyzing according to Hofstedes Cultural Dimensions Theory is the appropriateness of the cultural differences presented in the series. The series offers an important area of investigation in terms of the presentation of cultural differences and conflicts. Appropriate examples were selected from the episodes aired so far and these scenes were analyzed using Deys descriptive analysis technique. Cultural differences were categorized and the language use practices of the two culturally different families, the way they make sense of metaphorical phenomena, the meanings they attribute to rituals and special days, and the differentiating aspects in the context of gender were analyzed.
