The Sufi understanding, which has been influential on the spiritual life of Turks for centuries, is one of the most important teachings of Yasawism. After Ahmad Yasawis death in 1166, the dervishes who followed his path spread their poems and creeds to almost all Turkish geographies. Khorasan Saints, representatives of tolerance and good morals, played a major role in the Turkification and Islamization of Anatolia. Pir-i Türkistan olarak bilinen Hoca Ahmet Yesevînin Yeside günümüzde Türkistan yaktığı Türk-İslam meşalesi, Horasan üzerinden Anadoluya taşınmıştır.
