Özet:

This study aims to propose an original theoretical framework by evaluating the perception of time and space in tourism not only through physical and measurable dimensions but also within socio-cultural and psychological contexts. Based on the concept of chronotope derived from literary theory, the multi-layered nature of the touristic experience is reinterpreted, and a novel conceptualization termed slow chronotope is introduced within the perspective of slow tourism. This approach focuses on how individuals construct meaningful, conscious, and sensory connections with local space during the time spent in a destination. This article discusses the place of the chronotope concept within cultural and social sciences and reveals its theoretical potential for tourism literature through an interdisciplinary approach. Within the proposed model related to slow tourism, key elements such as slow time perception, local space, authentic experience, remembrance and memory formation, and sustainability are interrelated, providing a comprehensive explanation of the depth of the time-space experience in tourism. Structured through a qualitative conceptual analysis, this study stands as one of the first model proposals in tourism literature based on the chronotope framework. The findings aim to contribute not only to the analysis of tourist experiences but also to the development of sustainable and meaning-oriented tourism policies.
