Özet:

The story of Hârût-Mârût in the Quran is mostly understood as Hârût and Mârût teaching people magic. In this context, comments were made that the two names mentioned could be two prophets, two rulers, two priests, two magicians, apart from being angels. The possibility that the information that was revealed to angels could be something other than magic has not been adequately explained attracts our attention. However, it is remarkable that the information mentioned in the verse is not magic, but about the nature of magic. It is necessary to examine in detail whether this possibility is discussed in the commentaries and to what extent this view is realistic in terms of the original text of the verse. What is the reality of the names Hârût and Mârût mentioned in the Quran? Did they really teach magic as claimed? If what they teach is not magic, what is the quality of the information? This aims to reach a more satisfactory conclusion by evaluating the efforts made to find convincing answers to the questions mentioned from an analytical point of view, based on the Qurans narration. From different readings and various evaluations, it is revealed that it is more accurate to accept that Hârût and Mârût are two angels, and that what they teach is information about the nature of magic, and it is convenient to make an appropriate interpretation without spoiling the context of the verse.
