Özet:

In this study, Varela-Losada et al. 2021, validity and reliability studies were conducted to adapt the Global Environmental Change GEC Scale into Turkish. In this direction, the validity and reliability steps carried out in the adaptation studies were followed. The study group consists of 1181 pre-service teachers studying at a state university. Both the original and the adapted scales were used as data collection tool. The data were analyzed through SPSS-25 and AMOS-25 package programs. As a result of the study, the language validity of the scale was found to acceptable. In confirmatory factor analysis, on the other hand, a modification was made by establishing covariance as there was a relationship between error variances of some items. In addition, four items whose factor-item fit estimates were not significant were removed from the scale. It was determined that the estimations of the items related to the CFA model based on the last situation were acceptable and consistent. In this sense, it was seen that the model was validated. Cronbachs Alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated as .74. As a result of the adaptation, it was found that the scale, which was brought into the national literature, is appropriate for determining the attitudes of teacher candidates towards global environmental change. Therefore, it can be recommended that the adapted scale should be used in further studies to be conducted to determine the attitudes of teacher candidates towards global environmental change.
