Özet:

Each holy book was sent down in the language spoken by the prophet and the society to which it was sent. Naturally, in order to achieve its goal of being understood, the Quran used the words, style, literary styles and linguistic logic of the Arab society to which it first addressed, and was revealed as an Arabic word. However, the dynamic structure of the language also showed itself in this environment and the context of the words could change in accordance with the environment of revelation. The root meaning of the concepts in the Arabic language was mostly preserved, but its meanings could differ in the climate of Mecca and Medina. Therefore, the words used by the Arab society have entered a new semantic field specific to the Quran. In such a process, it can be seen that some words retain their meaning in the period in which they are used, while others undergo a narrowing or expansion of meaning or even gain a completely new meaning. The best way to achieve the rewards of this world or the hereafter that Allah promises in His words is to adopt and apply the qualities that must be possessed as a whole. One of these is the word pious, which is one of the key concepts of the Quran. It is a fact that speech cannot be independent of the addressee. Correct comprehension of the address depends on the addressee as well as other elements. Just as it is important who says the word, it is also important to whom, where, why and when it is said. In this respect, the first addressee of the Quran is Hz. The life adventure of the Prophet and its connection with revelation is one of the facts that should not go unnoticed. In addition, another factor that will make the speech valuable is that it is appropriate to the situation. In the study, the revelation is attributed to Hz. The reason why a descent sequence created by considering the Prophets life course, together with the Mecca and Medina periods, is based here, as well as the main element that will make the study different. Because the books, theses and articles written before do not contain a specific research on the concept of pious, they are far from including the context of the concept in terms of its environment. The aim of the study is to determine the contextual meanings that the word pious gained in the process of revelation, based on a sirah oriented revelation order, to reveal the portrait of the pious painted by the Quran, and to prove the perfection of revelation in accordance with the environment. In addition, especially in meaning-centered translation studies, raising awareness about the meaning of the word pious in the verses in which it is mentioned, together with its context, is among the goals. First, the meaning of the concept in the period of its revelation will be determined in terms of its context, and in the conclusion, the meanings of the pious in the environment of Mecca and Medina will be given as a whole. In achieving these goals, the internal context will be taken into consideration more and emphasis will be placed on the siyak and sibak method. As a result of the study, it has been seen that although the concept of pious preserves its root meaning, its meanings have diversified in accordance with the external and internal context, and has taken on a meaning that expresses the situations that are in line with the requirements of the revelation environment in Mecca and Medina.
