Özet:

Aim: This study was conducted to test the validity and reliability of the Menopause Spousal Support Questionnaire MSSQ in Turkish culture. Material and methods: The study was carried out methodologically. Purposeful sampling method, one of the non-probability sampling methods, was used in the research. A total of 335 women between the ages of 45-65 i from various regions of Turkey participated in the study. Data were collected face to face by using the Personal Information Form and Menopause Spousal Support Questionnaire in the study. Content and construct validity and internal consistency reliability analysis methods were used to determine the psychometric properties of the MSSQ. Results: According to the results of the explanatory factor analysis applied to the 17-item Turkish version of the MSSQ, it was confirmed that it has four dimensions. Factor loads vary between 0.553-0.881. According to confirmatory factor analysis, the model had good fit in terms of CFI and NFI values; χ2df, GFI, TLI, RMSEA values were found to have acceptable compatibility. The Cronbachs Alpha coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.958 in total and 0.844-0.927 in its sub-dimensions. The participants mean MSSQ total score was 102.0337.54, and the Pearson correlation coefficient between the scale sub-dimension scores was between 0.534 and 0.850. Conclusion: The MSSQ adapted to Turkish culture is a valid and reliable measurement tool in determining the spousal support of menopausal women. The scale can be used by nurses and other health care providers in primary or secondary care, community studies, intervention programs for menopausal women, scientific research, and determining what type of supportive behavior from the spouse is required.
