Özet:

Social capital, which consists of interpersonal social networks, values such as trust, norms and reciprocity, and practices such as civic participation and solidarity, is an important resource that directs the collective life for every society. In this study, which focuses on the investigation of social capital in the immediate social environment where social relations are shaped, the effects of demographic variables such as education status and income level on the social capital of individuals were examined comparatively in Çankaya and Mamak Districts of Ankara province. In the light of the findings of the research, especially the institutional and non-institutional trust dimensions cause remarkable differences in terms of the district of residence, educational status and income levels. It has been concluded that the said differentiation has a significant effect on social capital and enables those residing in Mamak to achieve higher social capital scores than those residing in Çankaya. In the context of education, it was seen that social capital scores decreased inversely as the level of education increased. It has been observed that institutional civic participation varies in terms of the structure of institutions on the basis of districts.
