Özet:

This study examines occupational health and safety OHS awareness in the automotive sector within Samsun province. Preventing workplace accidents and occupational diseases, particularly in industrialized regions, is closely linked to the effectiveness of occupational health and safety practices. In this context, the knowledge and awareness levels of individuals working in Samsuns automotive sector regarding OHS were assessed using a descriptive and cross-sectional research method. Due to restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the study was limited to a sample group of 100 participants. The survey data revealed how factors such as managements influence on OHS, adherence to safety rules, employee initiative in safety matters, and information acquisition processes shape OHS awareness. The findings demonstrated that employees who have received comprehensive OHS training possess higher levels of awareness regarding occupational health and safety. Additionally, those with knowledge of occupational diseases also showed greater OHS awareness. In conclusion, enhancing OHS awareness in the automotive sector is crucial for preventing workplace accidents and occupational diseases. In this regard, management support and continuous training programs are vital in elevating employees awareness of OHS issues.
