Özet:

In recent years, the rapid increase in migration movements from Afghanistan to Turkey and its high media coverage have increased academic interest in Afghan migration. However, there is still a need for in-depth studies to understand the background of Afghan migration and the living, working conditions and integration tendencies of migrants in Turkey. This study aims to examine the working conditions and economic integration tendencies of Afghan migrants who have gained visibility in the agriculture and livestock sector in the Thrace region Edirne, Tekirdağ, Kırklareli. The authors used qualitative research design to conduct the research. The data obtained from 18 in-depth interviews with Afghan migrants show that the Thrace region is primarily preferred by Afghan migrants. As it provides job opportunities similar to their past work experiences at the sectoral level, and there is no negative expectation gap in terms of working conditions and opportunities offered by employers. Although these conditions ensure a positive trend in integration tendencies, the uncertainty created by the irregular migration status and the restriction of access to basic services pose a risk for the integration process in the long term.
