Özet:

Childrens literature aims not only to provide children with literary pleasure, but also to contribute to their growth as individuals who are more competent in the management of emotions and thoughts. In such works, themes such as curiosity, adventure and discovery are usually included to attract childrens attention. Since children tend to see the world as a playground, they approach texts containing these themes with great interest and try to solve them like a riddle. In this context, historical and mythological elements have an important place in childrens literature. These contents, which offer both play and discovery elements, not only develop childrens imagination, but also offer them the opportunity to look at the world from a wider perspective. Authors make use of mythology, history, fairy tales and other cultural sources to enrich their narratives. These sources aim to attract childrens attention and increase their interest in history and culture. The aim of this study is to examine how the mythological elements created by Delal Arya in the Pera Diaries series by using Istanbuls historical and cultural resources are included in childrens literature and to evaluate the contribution of these elements to childrens cultural development. During this evaluation, the Pera Diaries series, history and mythology connections were identified and the relationship between childrens sense of curiosity and cultural development was analyzed.
