Özet:

The second half of the sixteenth century is the period in which the power of the Ottoman state both on land and on sea has reached its culmination. First, defeating Safavids in Iran (1515) later Mamluks in Egypt (1517) and Syria (1516) Ottoman has become the only Muslim state in the Eastern Mediterranean which has been called as sea of emplerors. Cyprus which has the geostrategic position in the Eastern Mediterranean and it is being in the domination of Venice, has been causing Ottoman State to be under the permanent commercial, military and political threat. For the campaign whose fatwa has been taken from sheikh al-Islam Ottoman’s all provinces with their facilities and abilities have taken place in Cyprus campaign. The archieve documents of the era has set light to the greatness of human and material sources and spiritual difficulties which have been actuated for the campaign.
