Özet:

Tripolis, which was founded on the banks of the Büyük Menderes River and was located within the borders of the Lydia Region in ancient times, is now spread within the borders of Yenicekent, Buldan District, Denizli Province. Since 2012, systematic excavation works have been carried out extensively in a wide area, focusing on the city center of the ancient city. These excavations have unearthed numerous imported red-slipped pottery dating back to the Late Hellenistic and Roman Periods. Among these pottery, a total of 54 pieces belonging to the Eastern Sigillata B group, exhibiting differences in form, clay, and slip composition, have been evaluated within the scope of the study. The main objective of the study is to conduct a typological examination of the DSB pottery found in Tripolis and to contribute to the determination of their distribution area. The typological classification of pottery found in the city was made with reference to Hayes 1985 publication, Atlante II. According to this typological classification, within the DSB 1 group in the city, forms include Atlante 1, 3, 12, 17, 18, 23, 30, 32, 35, and 37, while within the DSB II group, forms include Atlante 57, 58, 59, 60, 65, 70, and 75. The pottery groups found in the city have been dated using the analogy technique. The earliest dated DSB ceramics in Tripolis were found in Granarium and are dated to the Augustan Period Atlante Form 1, 3. The ceramics found in the city, in general, were used from the Augustan Period until the middle of the 2nd century AD. Based on the DSB pottery, it is concluded that Tripolis likely did not remain indifferent to the pottery produced in Tralleis.
