Özet:

Motherhood, as a domain where gender roles are reproduced, presents a critical area within the context of feminist theories in terms of both the sanctification of female identity and the restriction of womens individuality. This study aims to map the studies on the concept of motherhood in feminist theories. Using bibliometric analysis of existing writings on motherhood in feminist theories, the study examines the intensity and trajectory of research in the literature. The bibliometric data of various types of works published between 1979 and 2025, scanned in the Web of Science database, served as the unit of analysis. The distribution of 724 works on motherhood by publication year shows a concentration in 2023 61 works, 2022 60 works, 2021 55 works, and 2020 55 works. The most prolific authors were identified as Ann Taylor Allen. The publication types were predominantly articles 644, book chapters 48, and books 40. In terms of research areas, womens studies 260, psychology 100, history 71, literature 63, and other social sciences 62 were the most prominent. Regarding the distribution of publications by country, the leading contributors were the United States 169, the United Kingdom 112, and Australia 49. Most publications were indexed in SSCI 345, ESCI 220, and AHCI 149.
