Özet:

Anatolia, which is the crossroads of cultures and has hosted many empiresstates, has witnessed the social, political, cultural and human experiences of these empiresstates. When the geography in question is examined from many perspectives, it is seen that there are some turning points in these experiences. The proclamation of the Republic has been the most important turning point in our history and has spread to every area of our country. A more accurate reading can be made about what the Republic brought, when each study on our country is subjected to a research in the form of pre-republican and post-republican. With the proclamation of the Republic, new road maps were drawn in the field of archeology, as in many other fields. The students sent abroad and the excavations that gained momentum became one of the science policies of the Republic regarding archeology, and these developments were reflected in the archeology studies in our country. In these studies, which were also seen in the province of Van, it was seen that excavations were carried out in many areas and these excavations shed light on the historical depth of the province of Van. Although excavations were carried out in the province of Van before the Republic, it would be correct to say that these studies gained a more scientific dimension with the Republic. In this study, archaeological studies carried out until the 1950s in the province of Van, which is within the borders of the Eastern Anatolia Region, are discussed. How much these studies were affected by the science policies of the Republic was determined by the example of Van province. Thus, the theme of the Republic and archeology was embodied in the example of Van province.
