Özet:

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between doomscrolling and workflow experience and whether life satisfaction plays a mediating role in this relationship. For this purpose, the period immediately after the Kahramanmaraş earthquake of 2023, which was heavily characterized by bad news, was selected, and 401 randomly selected people who use social media were interviewed. The data obtained was analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program and ANOVA, t-test, regression and correlation analyzes were applied to arrive at the results. As a result of the analysis, life satisfaction was found to play a partial mediating role in the relationship between doomscrolling and workflow experience. The research results also showed that doomscrolling, workflow experience, and life satisfaction differed significantly based on some demographic variables. In addition, it was determined that doomscrolling had a negative relationship between life satisfaction and workflow experience, while life satisfaction had a positive relationship with workflow experience. In line with these results, it was suggested that addiction to following bad news negatively affects our workflow and life satisfaction, and therefore, individuals should be made aware of doomscrolling.
