Özet:

Recently, environmental pollution, the relationship between health expenditures and economic growth, both national and International are among the topics that are emphasized in the academic literatüre. In this direction, in the study, the effect of health expenditures and economic growth on environmental pollution CO2 was investigated by ARDL bounds test approach to cover the period between the 1980-2020 in Turkey. The stationarity of the variables were examined by ADF and PP unit root tests and their direction was examined by Granger causality test. The results show that the variables are stationary at the first awareness and are cointegrated in the long term. On the other hand, it has been concluded that long-term health expenditures and economic growth increase environmental pollution, and renewable energy consumption reduces environmental pollution. Finally, there is a one-way causality from environmental pollution to economic growth, from health expenditures to environmental pollution, from renewable energy consumption to economic growth and from economic growth to health expenditures. As can be seen, appropriate health expenditure, social welfare level and environmental quality interact. This relationship provides important evidence for governments to create more consistent and realistic policies.
