Özet:

The geographical features that differentiate spatial units from each other are determinant in the location selection and development of industrial activities. The geographical concentration of industrial sectors in the national economy indicates the competitive potential of spatial units where concentration is observed. Determination of spatial concentration and sectoral specialization contributes to the process of creating regional development plans and policies. The aim of the study is to analyze the concentration levels of industrial sectors in the TR63 NUTS-2 region and to evaluate the industrialization process of Kahramanmaraş, one of the provinces that constitute the region. Spatial location selection was examined in the time periods between 1970-2023. In order to classify the sectors as concentrated, candidate for concentration and non-concentrated, three different parameters, namely local unit, number of employees and turnover indicators, were analyzed comparatively for the years 2009, 2015 and 2023 with the locality coefficient method. According to the analysis results, sectors with codes 11, 13, 16, 19, 20, 21, 23, 25 are concentrated in 2023. The location selection of companies in Kahramanmaraş was analyzed with descriptive and explanatory statistical techniques at the provincial, district and urban scale. According to the findings, the central tendency in location selection is statistically within the borders of the central district.
