Özet:

Tifāshī is one of the scholars who spent his life between the Eastern and Western Islamic worlds and ensured the scientific flow between these two points. He is a versatile writer. His life, which started in Tunisia, ended in Egypt. He has many works in religious and mental sciences. However, he stands out with his work named Azhār al-Afkār..., which he wrote on precious stones, which is also the subject of this study. In the world of Ottoman science, he is known both for this work and for his book Ruju al-shaykh.... al-Tifāshī presents information on a total of twenty-five stones in various items in his work on stones. He provides information on the names of stones, their formation, properties, location, differences between fake and real, and medical benefits. While doing this, the author makes use of the previous literature and specifies his sources sensitively. In addition to this, he draws the profile of a research scientist in this field with the experiments and observations he made, and the information he conveyed from traders, craftsmen and people who somehow convey information to him. In this study, the life of the author and his work were examined. The sources he used while writing the work and the method he followed were discussed.
