Özet:

While many different events and content were being prepared within the scope of the centenary celebrations of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, the process was supported not only by national but also international platforms. Within the scope of these events, Disney, one of the Over-the-Top OTT media services, had announced a trailer in October 2022 that the Atatürk series would be broadcast on October 29, 2023; however, another announcement was made in August 2023 with the information that the series would be transferred to the Fox TV channel to be broadcast as a movie. The reason for this change was heard as the lobbying activities led by the Armenian National Committee of America, accordingly it attracted significant social reaction, and consequently turned into a digital activist movement by quickly becoming a trending topic on social media. This study aims to analyze the activist movement within the framework of actor behaviors and the effectiveness of the movement focusing on social media posts after the cancellation of Atatürk series. This study aims to examine this new generation activist movement that emerged after the announcement that the Atatürk series would not be broadcast, by focusing on the actors transformed by digitalization and the effectiveness of the movement within the scope of optimismpessimismpersistence debates. The findings obtained in the light of the posts examined by text mining and content analysis methods for a week starting from August 1, 2023 on Ekşi Sözlük, Onedio and X, which were included in the analysis with the purposeful sampling method, among the social media platforms that have turned into a digital agora, are as follows: Even though the activist movement became successful in terms of setting the agenda, opinion leaders and gatekeepers did not embrace the issue sufficiently, as it could not achieve the desired goal in terms of the activity, which is of great importance in terms of putting pressure on decision-making authorities.
