Özet:

The Turks, who founded the Ottoman Empire at the turn of the 14th century, first established a great superiority against the Byzantine Empire in Anatolia and Rumelia, and then over other Christian states and societies in Eastern and Central Europe. The fear of Turks in Europe, which started with the conquest of Istanbul during the reign of Mehmed the Conqueror, reached its peak during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. Under the leadership of first the Catholic Church and then Martin Luther, the Protestants tried to keep the anger of the Christians alive against the Turks with propaganda broadcasts and announcements. As a result, a Turkish profile emerged that was cruel, ruthless, and took pleasure in killing and taking life. Beginning from the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, a sense of curiosity began to develop among Europeans besides fear and anxiety towards the Turks. This sense of curiosity led many travelers to visit Turkish lands. During their travels, some of them on official duty, some of their own will, they learned about the characteristics of the Turks beyond what they were told. One of these qualities is compassion towards animals. Almost all travelers have treated the love and compassion that Turks show especially towards cats, dogs and birds in their works with astonishment and amazement.
