Özet:

Globalization is a multidimensional phenomenon that includes cultural and political situations besides economy. Globalization, which reached its peak in the second half of the 20th century, refers to multiple identity interactions in addition to the spread of information production technology beyond national borders. In addition, globalization is a set of complex social processes that generally involve a wide range of economic, political and cultural trends in the modern world. This article aims to analyze the interaction between identities created by cultural globalization, one of the important social phenomena, and the problems that arise as a result. The subject of this article is the relationship between cultural globalization, which develops with the spread of Western culture through global tools and accepts the West as a global value, and local identity. This study, which evaluates the issues of local, dual and global identity that have revived in the process of cultural globalization, examines the effects of globalization on homogeneous local culture. The main problem of this study is the diversity and reasons for the emergence of multiple identities, which are assumed to eliminate the sense of national belonging and are therefore criticized. In this study, it was concluded that local identity has changed with the influence of global culture and that information and communication technologies have an important place among the reasons creating the change. However, in addition to new consumption styles, globalization has also led to significant cultural changes and identity transformations through globalizing mass media. It is also understood that identity, which is the ideological reflection of globalizing culture, encourages new fluid lifestyles based on material and spiritual consumption.
