Özet:

Leyla Erbil, who distinguishes herself from her coetaneous generation of the fifties with her unique style of fiction, experimental usage of language, and the sociocultural thematic universe, is one of the first women authors who made women visible in the patriarchal view of our literature. Erbils long and deviated sentence structure, her poetic style, her plot that pushes the boundaries of the unconscious, and her imaginary characters who cannot entirely disconnect from reality are the unique narrative elements of her novels. The authors 2005 novel The Three-Headed Dragon is a two-part social criticism that concentrates on Istanbul as an open space. The use of narrative techniques such as inner monologue, stream of consciousness, and intertextuality in the achronic plot, which extends from Rome to Byzantium, from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic of Turkey, also paves the way to incorporate Mythology in which Erbil is closely interested, to her fictional universe. In this sense, the character Tanrıçay, based on Kronos, one of the prominent god figures of Greek Mythology, can be interpreted as the mythology-based, symbolic character of the novel The Three-Headed Dragon. Tanrıçay, whom Erbil criticizes the society through the characters relations with the art and business circles and the individual through the concept of family, is a psychoanalytic character who builds a striking ironic language on the capitalist system, art, artist, sexuality, and the notion of incest. Due to the aforementioned qualities, the work and its main character are Tanrıçay; In order to reinterpret Erbil with different aspects of the literary world, it has been tried to be examined in terms of mythology.
