Özet:

The science of ḥadīth ʿilm al-ḥadīth revolves around two primary problematics: the relationship between ḥadīth and Sunnah, including their essential nature, and how the Sunnahcharacterized by the Prophets immutable and exemplary behaviorscan be transformed into enduring character traits and daily practices for Muslims. Most of the scholarly work produced to date, ranging from primary ḥadīth sources and their commentaries to biographical and methodological literature, has primarily addressed the first of these issues. Nearly all of the knowledge generated within the field has catered primarily to the needs of scholars and specialists in religious sciences. In contrast, studies addressing the second problematicwhat may be termed the contemporary relevance or actualization of the Sunnahremain notably limited. Yet, there is no doubt that the ultimate aim of ḥadīth sciences is the internalization of the Prophet Muhammads unchanging and character-forming behaviors in both individual and social spheres of contemporary life. Therefore, the question of how adherence to the Sunnah can be practically implemented and integrated into everyday life may itself be considered a vital outcome of the vast body of literature produced in the fieldan outcome particularly pertinent to the broader Muslim community. This study examines Mawlānā Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmīs approach to the use of ḥadīth and Sunnah, seeking to articulate certain fundamental principles that may prove beneficial in presenting the Sunnah in a manner comprehensible and relevant to the consciousness of the present age.
