Özet:

Turkish epics are cultural heritages belonging to thousands of years of Turkish culture and history. Archetypal characters are used in the fiction of epics, which generally deal with topics such as heroism, war, love and supernatural beings. Nowadays, the interpretation and design of archetypal characters in the context of contemporary mythology and their use in current stories is important in terms of reflecting the common values of societies. Mythological stories and symbols are effective in preserving mythology, the greatest heritage of cultures, and transferring it to future generations. When the literature is examined, it is observed that our country lags behind the world in the production of character designs for printed or digital platforms based on Turkish epics. While contributing to the literature in this article, the successful contemporary mythological character designs produced so far will be discussed with their stories and production styles. Based on the sample analysis table created in this research article and the examples studied, alternative character design ideas for the character God Ulgen, an archetype of the epic of creation, were produced. It is expected that these character design ideas will shed light on the animations to be made in the field, the techniques used in the production of digital game designs, and will be effective in the recognition of Turkish culture by other cultures.
