Özet:

The Battle of Preveza, fought in 1538, culminated in a decisive victory for the Ottoman Empire against the Holy League fleet. Encouraged by Pope Paul III, the allied Christian naval forces began mobilizing in March 1538 and initiated a series of incursions around Crete from June 7 onward. As a result, the Mediterranean and its surrounding coasts became the theater of a protracted confrontation between the Ottomans and the Holy League, lasting until the final and most significant clash in late September 1538. Throughout these engagements, the Ottoman forces seized considerable war spoils, including goods, cash, treasures, and prisoners. These acquisitions are corroborated by archival documents. Accordingly, this study is based on the records in Register No. 49191 of the Topkapı Palace Museum Archive, which details the spoils captured during confrontations with Venetian-French and other Christian powers at the ports of Egypt, Alexandria, Crete, Cyprus, Damietta, and Rosetta, particularly dated 12 June 1538. The article provides comprehensive insights into the nature, categories, and quantities of these spoils, including the capture of a Venetian envoy. In this regard, the study aims to contribute to the scholarly literature on the reign of Sultan Suleiman I 15201566 and the spoils of the Battle of Preveza 1538.

Preveze Deniz Muharebesi, 1538 yılında Osmanlı Devletinin Haçlı donanmasına karşı kesin zaferiyle sonuçlanmıştır. Mart 1538den itibaren Papa III.
