Özet:

Considering that countries are living beings just like humans, it is observed that they are in a constant relationship with their contemporaries. These relations can be negative or unfavorable, such as war, or they can be built on mutually optimistic policies, that is, in a positive direction. Likewise, two countries, which were in a very intense conflict and war environment in their common past, can be in good relations today. When evaluated in the historical process, it is seen that the relations between the Ottoman Empire and Austria were in the form of mutual struggles until the First World War and turned into an alliance during this period. in particular, the Friendship Agreement signed between Turkey and Austria in 1924 was the main factor that strengthened the bond between the two nations. in this study, the construction process and architecture of the Vienna Yunus Emre Fountain, which is the symbol of friendship between Austria and Turkey, were evaluated in the discipline of art history. The fountain is important as it is the first fountain built by the Turks for this purpose in Europe. The fountain, which was built in 1991 by both Austrian and Turkish institutions with the initiative of Baki Bilgin, who taught Turkish in Vienna, was designed as a four-facade fountain. in terms of facade design and decoration, it can be observed that a wide variety of fountains built during the Tulip Era of the Ottoman Empire were taken as examples. When this structure is reviewed in terms of the reflection of the cultural memory to our age, it is evaluated that an original, historically deep, and highly valuable work of art has been revealed by following a traditionalist understanding in its design.
