Özet:

The concept of environment has an increasing importance in psychology as in other sciences. In addition to natural events such as environmental pollution and global warming, which have become a problem that cannot be ignored in recent years, an increasing number of international migration phenomena have a high impact on the emergence of this situation. The role of the concept of environment in psychology is important but controversial. Based on the history of psychology, the understanding of the environment, which is not holistic and does not allow mutual interaction, has been changing in recent years as a result of studies in the field of environmental psychology. Variables such as place attachment and place identity, which are emphasized by environmental psychologists, have played a major role in changing this perception. As the phenomenologists, geographers and philosophers who focus on these concepts have jointly expressed, there have been differences in the place experience of human beings with modern times. In the modern world, which does not provide a permanent aesthetic satisfaction and does not allow individuals to take root, people are becoming more and more out of place. In addition to being an objective and socio-spatial reality that human beings live as a result of increasing numbers of refugees and migration activities, placelessness also points to a psychological and emotional experience of a lost place. This situation is seen as an important problem that should be addressed by the science of psychology both at the social and clinical level. This study attempts to trace the problem of placelessness experienced by human beings in the modern world.
