Özet:

By its very nature, photography has always had a tight connection to the concept of reality. Documentary photography in particular has been viewed as a reflection of reality. The bond that documentary photography forges with reality, however, has drawn criticism from post-modern commentators. In addition to these criticisms, this article focuses on the changing concept of reality in contemporary philosophy. ObjectOriented Ontology and Speculative Realism, two contemporary philosophical movements, suggest that it is possible to have a realists attitude that does not center the human being. Especially Graham Harmans interpretations of art from the perspective of Object-Oriented Ontology can open up new avenues for discussions on reality in the field of documentary photography. Max Pinckers Speculative Documentary School places a similar emphasis on discussions about reality in Harmans Object-Oriented Philosophy. Speculative documentary photography, classified within post-documentary, is considered to spark some new discussions on documentary photography with its manifestos emphasizing the hybrid relationship between documentary and fiction. This article deals with Speculative Realism and Object-Oriented Ontology, as well as the definition and significance of speculative documentary photography, and also investigates its relationship with these two emerging disciplines.
