Özet:

In order to minimize the damages of natural disasters, one of the studies accepted in the literature worldwide is the smart city application. Activating governance in smart city life will be one of the most important factors in ensuring success and sustainability. In smart urbanization, the anti-earthquake policies implemented by Tokyo, which is both among the top ten smartest cities in the world and located on the most active fault lines, can be taken as an example for Malatya, which suffered major structural damage in the February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes. In this context, examples of smart city applications in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, where natural disasters are most common, were examined. In line with these examples, it is aimed to contribute to the sustainable smart city transformation process of Malatya in cooperation with local governments and stakeholder actors after natural disasters and to the studies to be carried out for the future smart city application. In this study, document analysis method was used within the framework of qualitative analysis based on literature review. As a result of the study, solutions were proposed for sustainable smart city applications in Malatya city after natural disasters.
