Özet:

The close economic, political and military relations established between the Ottoman and the German Empire in the 19th century led to the establishment of an alliance between both empires. In this process, especially from the military point of view, the German Empire was dominated by the idea of establishing itself in the Ottoman Empire, but came to an end as a strategy after the defeat of both allies in Anna Grosser-Rilkenin İstanbulda Bir Hoş Sada Avrupa Saraylarından Yıldıza Adlı Seyahatnamesindeki Türk İmgesi62Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı Dergisi - Studien zur deutschen Sprache und Literatur, 2022EXTENDED ABSTRACTThe close economic, political and military relations established between the Ottoman Empire and the German Empire in the 19th century led to the formation of an alliance between the two Empire. In this period, this migration process took place intensively in the military field, with the idea of the German Empire settling in the Ottoman lands and getting stronger there. During this process, in addition to the economic, political and military sharing between the two empires, the interaction between the two peoples is also seen intensely. Especially the individual experiences written in the travel books shed light on the reason why the Germans went to the Ottoman lands and the life in that period in many aspects. It is seen that many travelogues of that period were written by men, mainly due to military immigration. At this point, Anna Grosser-Rilke differs from other travelers of the period. Rilke offers a different perspective to the literary world, both because she is a woman and because she is not of a military background. After the death of her husband, Grosser-Rilke took over the management of the Agence de Constantinople news agency, which they founded together in Istanbul, and had the opportunity to get to know the Turkish people closely in many aspects. The fact that the author is at the center of the work as a traveler and narrator establishes a natural bond between the books. This bond will be examined in terms of imagology. The concept of image, which comes from the Latin imago, is briefly defined as the imaginary or image of an object perceived by the sense organs, reflected in the consciousness. As it can be understood from here, the image is formed depending on the relationship between the individual and the object. One of the cornerstones of this study is to reveal the mentality of the person who imagines these images: The image of the Other is produced always at least partly by the authors subjective observation. It is not just an other at stake, but also the reflection of the self and the society connected to the other. For this reason, in terms of imagology, it is aimed to reveal not only the formed image, but also the relations the First World War. In addition to the cooperation between the two empires during this whole historical process, we also see the interaction between the two people. In particular, the personal experiences written down in several travelogues shed light on that period. Due to the predominantly military cooperation, many travelogues of that period are written by men. At this point Anna Grosser-Rilke diverges. Her writings offer a different perspective, both because she is a woman and because she has no military background. After the death of her husband, Grosser-Rilke took over the management of the Agence de Constantinople news agency that they had established in Istanbul. Thus, she had the opportunity to get to know the Turkish people more closely. In this study, we will try to reveal the Turkish image in Grosser-Rilkes travel book A Pleasant Sada in Istanbul From European Palaces to Yıldız. In terms of imagology, it will be aimed to reveal not only the image formed, but also the relations between the individual and the group or society that that individual represents.

19. yüzyılda başlayan göç ve Osmanlı topraklarına yerleşme düşüncesi, I. Dünya Savaşının yenilgisiyle sona ermiştir. I. Dünya Savaşı sonunda Osmanlı İmparatorluğu yıkılana kadar her alanda birlikte hareket ettikleri söylenebilir.
