Özet:

Contributing to a national war in another countrys war or a persons participation in a war of a country other than his own is a phenomenon that has continued from the beginning of history to the present day. There are many reasons for this phenomenon: As there is a unity of origin, religion, and purpose between countries, individual participations are mostly mercenaries, adventurers, self-serving against crimes against humanity, defenders of justice and law, defenders of faith and race, etc. as it manifests itself. During the First World War, German officers were also serving in the army of the Ottoman Empire, which was in the same alliance with Germany. However, due to the Armistice of Mudros being signed at the end of the war, all of the German officers returned to their countries. The Turkish Nation was left alone against the victors of the 1914 War in the independence struggle that it started on May 19, 1919, under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Pasha. The fighting spirit that the Turkish Nation showed to its organizations in a short time was an example to other oppressed and colonial nations in the world, and it also managed to gain the respect and support of many states. On the other hand, the fact that Germany, crushed under the Treaty of Versailles, did not show any resistance, was hurting the veterans who had fought in their army and had the blood of soldiers in their veins. Working in this context; To set an example for other nations with the Turkish nations understanding of military service and its contribution to the National Struggle; The support given by the nations that shared the spirit and similar fate created during the National Struggle period; It covers the reasons why German Infantry Captain Hans Tröbst, who fought on the Baltic Front in the First World War, participated in the Turkish War of Independence from 1920 to 1923. The aim of the study is to investigate the contributions of the nations that gave material and moral support to the National Struggle and the foreign soldiers who participated in the War of Independence, in particular Hans Tröbst.
