Özet:

This study examines environmental justice and ecofeminist approaches in terms of their egalitarian perspective on ecological problems and discusses their proposed solutions to economic, ethnic, class and gender injustices. The study focuses on the environmental struggle in the Akbelen Forest in the summer of 2023. In particular, the resistance of village women to protect nature is taken as an important example of the intersection of environmental justice and ecofeminism. In this context, Teun A. Van Dijks Critical Discourse Analysis method was used to analyse news articles published in national newspapers between 15 July and 15 August 2023. In these news articles, womens relationship to the environment, rights-based discourses and media representations of nature conservation were evaluated through macro-thematic analysis on the axis of women-environment-justice. The findings provide important insights into both the gender dimension of environmental resistance and how media discourses frame this struggle. The study shows that media discourses overshadow womens pursuit of environmental rights and diminish resistance to a political phenomenon, and that this approach plays both a supporting and limiting role in the ecofeminist struggle. Key Words: Ecofeminism, Environmental justice, Akbelen Forest JEL Classification: Q54, Q56, D63.
