The aim of this research was to examine the opinions of counselor candidates about providing psychological counseling to the elderly and to contribute to the development of both academic and practice in the field of counseling with elderly. In addition to this, another aim of the study is to make necessary researches and identify the deficiencies about making changes and reorganizing the curriculum and course content for elderly individuals in the guidance and psychological counseling department in the faculties of education. Eight fourth grade students studying at the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in the 2022-2023 academic year participated in this research, which was conducted a case study, one of the qualitative research methods. A semi-structured interview form was used in the research. The research was carried out with criterion sampling, one of the purposive sampling methods. The data of the research were analyzed by content analysis, one of the qualitative data analysis techniques. As a result of the research, 8 basic categories were determined views on education and experience, interest and willingness to work with the elderly, limitations and strengths towards working with the elderly, characteristics required to work with the elderly, and the importance and necessity of psychological counseling with the elderly. According to the results of the research, the participants mostly emphasized the lack of education they received for the elderly. While most of the participants were willing to work with the elderly, it was seen that some of them were more indecisive and reluctant. They stated that it is necessary to have the necessary psychological counselor qualifications to work with the elderly and it is important for them to have education in this field. They also stated that the elderly needed psychological help in issues such as grief, death, socialization, depression, and difficulties in expressing emotions. They stated that the desire of the elderly to get help should be increased for the development of psychological counseling.
