Özet:

Space is the common subject and study area of different disciplines such as art disciplines, philosophy, geography, performing arts and cinema, as well as architectural disciplines. For this reason, each discipline has defined space from its own point of view. The concept of space in architectural disciplines refers to the space with defined boundaries, formed by light-shadow, movement and time. In cinema, on the other hand, space is one of the inevitable elements such as scenario, light, music and actors. The purpose in cinema is not to define or create the space, but the space is a tool used to reach the goal. In cinema, space is used to tell the story, and the story cannot be told independently of the place. The importance of space in cinema is undeniable in order to convey and perceive events. In The Fall film, the two main characters meet in the hospital after being injured by falling, the dialogue between them and fantastic stories are told. The shooting of the film was made in different real locations in 16 countries. In this study; the concepts of space, space in cinema, space setup and space perception in cinema have been explained. Semiological analysis has been made of Hadrians Villa and Garden, Buenos Aires Botanical Garden and Zoo, Akbar Shah Tomb, Chand Baori and Umaid Bhawan Palace, which were selected from the movie The Fall. The characteristics of the determined spaces, the meaning conveyed by the choice of place, the relationship between events and space, the relationship between characters and space, the meaning to be conveyed by the signs, indexes and symbols in the space has been explained.

The Fall filminde, iki ana karakterin düşerek yaralanması sonucu hastanede karşılaşmaları, aralarında geçen diyalog ve fantastik hikâyeler anlatılmaktadır. Filmin çekimleri, 16 ülkede birbirinden farklı gerçek mekânlarda yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmada; mekân, sinemada mekân, sinemada mekân kurgusu ve mekân algısı kavramları açıklanmış; The Fall filminden seçilen Hadrianusun Villası ve Bahçesi, Buenos Aires Botanik Bahçesi ve Hayvanat Bahçesi, Ekber Şah Türbesi, Chand Baori ve Umaid Bhawan Sarayının göstergebilimsel çözümlemesi yapılmıştır. Belirlenen mekânların özellikleri, mekân seçimiyle taşınan anlam, olaylar ve mekân arasındaki ilişki, karakterler ve mekân arasındaki ilişki, mekândaki göstergeler, belirtiler ve semboller ile aktarılmak istenen anlam açıklanmıştır.
