Özet:

Mysticism, which is present in many religious traditions, is a phenomenon that stands out in Judaism under the name of Kabbalah. This system of thought, about which we cannot make precise statements about exactly when and where it emerged in the Jewish tradition, expresses a dynamic structure that has various constants and has changed depending on the conjuncture of the historical process. When the development process of this movement in Judaism is scrutinized, the Middle Ages, as in many other religious traditions, emerge as a period that stands out in terms of Jewish mysticism. In this regard, Bahya ibn Pakuda d. 1120?, one of the Jewish theologians of medieval Spain, who is also the subject of this research, is one of the prominent mystics. He discusses his thoughts on mysticism in his work al-Hidāya ilā Farāiz al-Kulūb. In this work, the theologian formulates a morality-based conception of religion by demonstrating that the intention of the heart is also binding in addition to physical worship and actions. In this respect, Bahya suggests that there are various obligations that the heart must also obey and that ten of these obligations express the essential principles. From this point of view, it is seen that ibn Pakudas mystical views are built on the principles of the unity of God, contemplation, obedience to God, reliance, humility, repentance, self-examination, asceticism, and love of God. This study aims to analyze Bahya ibn Pakudas mystical theology in line with these principles and to present a comprehensive perspective on his mystical theology.
