Özet:

There are two verses in the Quran that encourage seeking a wasīla means to draw closer to Allah. The term wasīla, used in these verses, primarily denotes a cause, means, or intermediary, and has been interpreted in various ways throughout Islamic history. Muslims have referred to this concept in diverse forms within their religious practices, and its application continues to hold relevance today. However, differing interpretations and practical implementations of wasīla have sparked significant theological debates. While some approaches to wasīla have been welcomed, others have faced strong opposition, with discussions focusing on the Shari Islamic legal legitimacy of each interpretation. The aim of this study is to examine the theological foundations and social reflections of the concept of wasīla, centering on the Quranic verses that mention seeking a means to approach Allah. Misunderstandings of this concept may lead to erroneous beliefs and practices, as a misinterpretation of wasīlawhile intended to bring one closer to Allahcan potentially lead to shirk associating partners with Allah. Therefore, a correct understanding of wasīla is essential from both a doctrinal and practical perspective. In this study, the position of wasīlatawassul in Islam will be defended based on Quranic evidence, emphasizing the importance of an accurate understanding of the concept. A perspective will be offered on how the concept evolved historically, how differing interpretations emerged, and the extent to which it is religiously legitimate within Islamic tradition. Rather than relying on hadith sources, this study primarily adopts a Quran-based approach to identify the place of wasīla in Islam. It will be argued that turning to the Quran is essential for a sound religious life and a proper understanding of wasīla. While most existing studies examine wasīla within specific theological frameworks or limited scopes, this research aims to explore the concept from a broader Quranic perspective and analyze both its theological and social dimensions. By employing the Quranic Exegesis and Social Application Analysis Method, this study seeks to evaluate the theological background and practical implications of wasīla directly through the lens of the Quran. A correct understanding of wasīla contributes not only to the sound formulation of individual beliefs but also to the proper shaping of religious practice in society. In this way, the concept of wasīlatawassul can be better understood both theoretically and practically within Muslim communities.
